TeaTonight is operated by Sasha Lantukh Design. This policy explains how we handle your information.
The short version
TeaTonight has no accounts and no sign-in. Your recipes and plans live on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account — we cannot see either. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. The only time anything leaves your device is when you ask us to import a recipe, and what reaches us then contains nothing that identifies you.
Your recipes and plans
Meal plans, recipes, and preferences are stored on your device. We have no access to them.
If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, they are also backed up to your personal iCloud account using Apple CloudKit, so they appear on your other devices. This happens automatically — there is nothing to sign in to, and no account with us. The backup lives in your iCloud account, not ours, and we cannot read it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, nothing is backed up and the app will tell you so.
Deleting the app removes what is on that device, but an iCloud backup survives it. To remove everything, including the iCloud copy, use Me → Delete My Data before deleting the app.
Importing a recipe
This is the only feature that sends anything to us, and only when you use it.
What is sent. When you import from a photo, the photo is sent to our processing service. When you import from a link, the link is sent, and our service fetches that page rather than your device. In both cases we also send whether you prefer metric or imperial, and a random identifier described below. We do not send your name, email, contacts, location, or anything else from your device.
Who processes it. Our service runs on Cloudflare, which as our infrastructure provider processes the request and may log standard network information such as the IP address it came from. The recipe itself is read by Anthropic's Claude AI. Because our service fetches web pages on your behalf, your IP address is never sent to Anthropic or to the recipe website.
How long it is kept. Photos, page contents, and the recipes produced from them are used to answer that one request and are then gone. They are not stored, not logged, and not used to train any AI model.
The import identifier
To stop the import service being abused, we need to count how many imports an installation has made. When you first import a recipe, the app generates a random identifier and sends it with each request. It is not derived from your device, your Apple ID, or anything about you, and it cannot be traced back to you.
We store that identifier alongside a count of imports, and the date of your first import. The count is deleted after two days; the date is kept for up to 13 months. Deleting and reinstalling the app produces a new identifier with no link to the old one.
This is the only piece of information about you that we hold on our own systems.
What we don't collect
We do not collect location data, contacts, browsing history, or any data unrelated to meal planning. We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
Permissions you can grant
Some features ask permission to use part of your phone. Each is optional, used only for what you asked for, and can be changed at any time in iOS Settings.
- Camera and photo library — to take or choose a picture of a recipe to import, or a photo of a meal you cooked. Photos of your meals stay on your device and in your iCloud; only a recipe photo you are importing is sent for processing.
- Reminders — to add shopping list items when you ask. We only add items. We do not read, store, or share your existing reminders.
- Notifications — to send the daily reminder if you turn it on. Notifications are scheduled on your device; we do not send push notifications and have no ability to.
Subscriptions
TeaTonight Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your payment details. We only learn whether this installation currently has an active subscription.
Deleting your data in TeaTonight does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it separately via Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.
Deleting your data
There is no account to close. Me → Delete My Data permanently removes your recipes and plans from the device and from your iCloud backup. Deleting the app alone removes only the copy on that device.
To have the import identifier described above removed, email us and we will delete it.
Children
TeaTonight is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EU you have rights over any personal data we hold. In practice we hold almost nothing — see "The import identifier" above — and everything else is on your device or in your own iCloud, under your control. To ask a question or make a request, email us at the address below.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Significant changes will be flagged within the app.
